The Innovation Fund of the Dutch Health Insurance Companies approves an 8million euro support to realize the special parent-child-units (Ouder-Kind-Eenheden) in the Prinses Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology. The OKE is developed by kopvol in collaboration with children, parents and hospital staff.

The Creative Industries Fund of the Netherlands and the Health Care Facilities Company CORDAAN invited kopvol to develop an interdisciplinary program for designers, scientist and professionals who are specialized in the field of dementia. The goal of the program is the sustainable improvement of the living and care environment of people with dementia. The program is related to a ministerial budget for the improvement of health care design in the Netherlands.

Kopvol developed the qualitative design concept for the patient areas for the new Children Hospital at the University Clinic Freiburg, DE. The criteria are based on an intensive research by design project in cooperation with the expert-team of medical and psychological professionals of the clinic, leaded by Professor Dr. Charlotte Niemeyer. The design criteria were scientifically evaluated, illustrated and published in a unique book, the so called 'Qualitative Raumbuch', which became part of the building requirements program and the official documents for the approval procedure at the German Ministry of Health and Science.
